I ejected the iPod using the Finder and it mounts successfully (I also ran First Aid in the Disk Utilitiy App. It never stopped saying that it was still updating, BUT. Restore iPod.: I have tried this several times, including letting it run overnight (over 8 hours). The only options available are "Check for Update" and "Restore iPod."Ĭheck for Update: "This version of the iPod software (1.1.2) is the current version." Synch options not available in Finder for iPod Classic / Monterey I was trying to update the libraries on my 80GB iPod Classic, and cannot. Would appreciate it if the admins here don't delete this post because this is a technical issue and I am seeking assistance in fixing the problem and I can even provide reference numbers on the cases I opened with Apple and with BMW because I think this problem is huge and neither company wants to address it. This issue was repeated with my wife's brand new iPhone XS and an old ipad 9.7 pro that I restored as new just to make sure it wasn't some glitch with restoring our phones from a back up. I can't be the only one driving a 2013 or older BMW. I find it hard to believe both Apple and BMW refuse to work on this issue. I'm at the end of my rope with this issue and am wondering if anyone has a workaround. Now with 12.2 the crashing issue is not only annoying but as far as I'm concerned a safety hazard since it shuts down the entire iDRive system which includes navigation, audio, phone, etc etc. Eventually, after unplugging and replugging the USB connector or playing music on the phone prior to connecting to the car I could eventually get the music to play on the car but that issue had been happening since 2014 and just got worse and worse. Prior to that it just wouldn't work and show I had 0/0 songs instead of over 68k. This includes not just the audio, but all the buttons in the car, the navigation, essentially everything connected to the iDrive system. The problem has gotten so bad with the BMW/iPhone connection that if I attempt to select a song, for example, the entire iDrive system freezes and eventually reboots. ![]() apple has had an active case and even did an extensive diagnostics and systems report on my new phone (a XS) and has concluded that the issue is that BMW will need to update their firmware.īMW has finally admitted to me that they have no plans to update the firmware on a 2013 BMW and consider it obsolete at this point. BMW has reviewed my issue through the dealer and with their technical engineering team and blames it on apple. Since then with every update of the iPhone's ios the ability to play iTunes though the USB and in some cases over Bluetooth has been extremely problematic. Last iDrive firmware update available for my 2013 BMW was in 2014.
